Workers Compensation Claims Adjuster
Summary: Full charge time loss workers compensation claims adjusting; handles both voluntary market and assigned risk claims.
Duties & Responsibilities: Examines injury reports; verifies coverage, sets up claims in computer and handles to completion. Interviews, telephones, and/or corresponds with claimants, insureds, medical personnel, witnesses, etc., requests documentation as needed, documents investigation, pay claims as appropriate, files all required workers compensation forms with the State of Alaska, investigates subrogation; reviews medical records, etc., maintains correspondence, documents all contacts, work products, etc. Responsible for filing annual report with the State of Alaska. Assigns litigated claims to attorney after approval by claims manager and maintains coordinated handling as required. Negotiates settlement via Compromise and Release, when appropriate. Attends workers compensation board hearings and prehearings.
Sets and revises case reserves in assigned claims files to cover probable costs.
